The college was opened under the name "Intermediate College of Education for Girls" in 1414 AH (1994 CE). At that time, it was affiliated with the Ministry of Education. It offered two-year diplomas in the following departments: Arabic Language, Social Sciences, Home Economics, Islamic Studies, and Mathematics.

In 1421 AH (1994 CE), the college was renamed the "College of Education for Female Teachers" to offer bachelor's degrees in the following majors: Arabic Language, English Language, Mathematics, Home Economics, Chemistry, Physics, and Bachelor's degrees by correspondence in Arabic Language and English Language. At that time, it was affiliated with King Khalid University. In 1430 AH (1994 CE), the girls' colleges were restructured, and some departments were incorporated into the College of Arts and Sciences: Arabic Language, English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. The College of Education teaches male and female students in these departments educational courses.

The College of Education currently comprises five departments:

Education and Psychology

Curriculum and Instruction

The college awards bachelor's degrees in the following departments: Home Economics, Special Education, Kindergarten, and Psychology. It also awards master's degrees in Special Education, Curriculum and Teaching Methods, and Kindergarten. The college also awards diplomas in Guidance and Psychological Counseling and a General Diploma in Education. The college, God willing, is continuing to prepare some plans to open intermediate programs in line with the needs of the labor market and the requirements of community development.
